Lauren Louise Hansen was born and raised in Kansas City and has now called Nashville home for almost seven years; residing in West Nashville with her feline companion, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Dr. Lauren attended Vanderbilt University where she received both her Doctor of Nursing Practice and her Masters of Science in Nursing degree in the women’s health nurse practitioner tract. Her doctoral work surrounded exploring the breastfeeding attitudes and beliefs in the outpatient clinical staff.  She holds current as a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner and is certified in advanced bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Prior to her time in Nashville, Dr. Lauren began her academic career at Auburn University studying biomedical sciences; and completed her Bachelors of Science in Education at the University of Kansas in Sports Science with a concentration in exercise science. While in college she had the opportunity to study art history in Europe and volunteer for a summer in Guatemala working in a primary health clinic serving the rural communities. After an internship in cardiac rehabilitation she began teaching while obtaining her Masters in Education from Rockhurst University. Her portfolio focus was on teaching biological sciences and health education to middle and high school students. During the summer intersession she spent her time in Peru teaching health to the adolescents in the male juvenile correctional facility. While working in the high school setting Lauren realized the lack of compassionate providers for female adolescents. Witnessing many unplanned pregnancies and the lack of education surrounding sexual behaviors she decided to merge her love of teaching, adolescents and health. She attended the University of Kansas Medical Center and received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. While there she received honors and also was selected to complete a fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology at Christian Medical Center in Vellore, India. Dr. Lauren was active in research, working under the mentorship and tutelage of Dr. Karen Wambach. Her original research, Exploring the barriers to breastfeeding amongst the adolescent Latina population, was both published and selected to be presented at multiple conferences, including the Midwest Conference of Nursing Research. In addition to clinical experiences while at the University of Kansas, she also spent two years working in the Level I trauma/surgical intensive care unit.

Dr. Lauren is the eldest of two girls, and her younger sister is actually completing her fellowship in Neonatology! She is very close with her family who instilled a love of travel, service and civic responsibility. In her free time she is an active member of the Belles of the American Royal debutante ball, Friends of Nashville Ballet, Gamma Phi Beta sorority, the Junior League of Nashville, Nations Neighborhood Association, Notre Dame de Sion alumnae association, St George’s Episcopal Church, and other various organizations around Nashville. In addition to traveling, she was a competitive equestrian show jumper. Currently, she enjoys going to the barn and giving her Argentinian mare bubble baths and long grazes; she is actually hoping to be a pony grandmother soon! In any additional free time that she has, Dr. Lauren enjoys a variety of sporting events, DIY projects around her home, gardening and anything that keeps her in the kitchen!
